Challenge Your Mind
Jesper
It's all about applying a little structure to creativity and intuition.
Jesper
Principal, Copenhagen
A Personal Story
I often hear people claim that consulting is all about using your common sense. That may well be true, but in this case we are talking about a type of common sense that is not all that common. Most business problems are really not that complex when you attack them in the right way. You do not need to know all the details of an industry to come up with insights. What you do need is the ability to identify the right underlying problem and then deconstruct in a logical way. With that structure in mind, it's now time to go look for answers—almost like a "business investigator"—using your inherent intuition, creativity, and analytical skills. Some people master this better than others. In the interview process, we are looking to identify those that excel.
Background
Jesper holds an MBA from INSEAD in France and an LLM from the University of Copenhagen. He also studied at Copenhagen Business School and is a trained attorney-at-law and investment banker. Jesper joined BCG's Copenhagen office in 2006 as a lateral hire. He works mainly in the area of corporate development.
Pekka
For me, BCG is a unique platform to team up with current and upcoming Finnish business leaders.
Pekka
Partner & Managing Director, Helsinki
A Personal Story

BCG works in partnership with leading Finnish companies. We do our utmost to achieve true and sustained impact by collaborating across all levels of their organizations, from top to bottom. We want to build long and trusting relationships that help companies and individuals succeed.

I have personally been inspired by the ambition to be part of a team to lead all through my career. As a consultant I worked side-by-side with my middle manager counterparts solving the issues at hand and developing practical solutions. As a project leader I teamed up with the client project champion, and both of our teams, to drive the client organization forward. Now as a partner, I feel privileged to be a trusted discussion partner for the top management of our clients.

Background
Pekka holds an MS in industrial management from the Helsinki University of Technology and an MBA from INSEAD. Pekka joined BCG’s Stockholm office in 1996 and moved to Helsinki in 1997. Pekka also practices his leadership skills at home, being a father of three (very active) boys.
Carl
Our view enabled the client to get finance for the biggest buyout of the year, beating competition from all the major PE firms.
Carl
Principal, Stockholm
A Personal Story

I recently ran a strategic due diligence for a Nordic private equity firm on a division in a major pharmaceutical company. We developed an original view on the growth and stability of the industry. This view was based on a large and unique base of primary research, including expert interviews and customer surveys across countries. We also identified a set of unique growth opportunities which the other potential acquirers had not seen.

Our view enabled the client to get the best financing package and win the auction process in competition with all the major PE firms. It also convinced management that our client was the most credible owner and they invited us to work with them to grow and improve the company.

Background
Carl joined BCG's Stockholm office in 2005 upon receiving an MBA with distinction from INSEAD.
Krister
Developing our people is at the core of our long term success.
Krister
Principal, Oslo
A Personal Story
To me, BCG is all about having major impact and creating value in an inspiring and dynamic environment. Given BCG’s expertise, practice areas, and global reach, we’re brought in by large organizations to assist on the issues that top the agenda of senior management. To succeed with this, we need to bring the best people to the table. From day one at BCG, there is a strong focus and commitment to formal training to prepare you for the rapidly increasing responsibilities you'll get at BCG. However, our tailored approach to solving our clients' challenges makes it impossible to learn everything you need from training, and our firm's high partner-to-consultant ratio creates a critical and real opportunity for continuous on-the-job training and coaching. Our senior consultants’ willingness to spend time on developing our people is really the core of our training curriculum—and at the heart of BCG's long term success.
Background
Krister holds an MS in business and administration from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration, a major in finance from HEC, France, and an MBA from INSEAD.
