Challenge Your Mind
Caroline
Being the mother of three beautiful kids, I also need some flexibility in my work.
Caroline

A Personal Story

For me, the people are the single most important reason to work at BCG. Each day, I get the opportunity to meet and work with great people—both clients and colleagues—who are inspiring and challenging. And after more than ten years with BCG, I still learn something new every day. I learn about industries, companies, organizations, and how they work. And last, but not least, I learn about people—including myself. Continuous learning is something I cited as a key objective in my application letter to BCG, a long time ago. And it remains a critical—and consistently fulfilled—goal for me today.

Being the mother of three beautiful kids—two daughters and one son—I also need some flexibility in my work, something that the project-based environment at BCG is actually very suitable for. I currently work part time 60%, which allows me a good balance between my job and family life.

The female role models at BCG make me aware of what I want and can achieve in my consulting career.

A Personal Story
Being a woman in management consulting is definitely challenging at times since in many industries you still find all male executive management teams. With that said, being a woman also brings you a lot of benefits that you can leverage. Women typically have an advantage when it comes to building strong interpersonal relationships with clients, and clients are increasingly demanding mixed teams. I also believe women bring empathy and diplomacy to the teamwork which is something male colleagues can have a hard time matching. At BCG there is a lot of emphasis on making women succeed by offering flexible work patterns, female mentors, and hosting yearly female conferences where women meet to network and learn from each other. I always get very inspired and energized when I meet senior female role models at these conferences as they make me aware of what I can achieve at BCG.

Anu-Elina
BCG offers me a balance of constant learning, work-life balance, and competitive pay.
Anu-Elina
Consultant, Helsinki
A Personal Story
I look for a balance of three elements in a job: constant learning, work-life balance, and pay. At BCG I have this balance. Firstly, there is not a single similar day. During the last three years I have familiarized myself with several industries, business functions, and people from all over the world. My projects have varied from conducting a pricing check for a luxury sailing boat manufacturer to creating a distributor strategy for an emerging market brewery. Secondly, I have enjoyed an excellent work-life balance. Besides work, I have taken time off for traveling and practiced my hobby of dancing regularly. It has been up to me when I work—as long as everything gets done. Thirdly, the pay is competitive. It’s balancing all these three that makes BCG the perfect job for me!
