Creativity and strategic insight every day—that is my reason for enjoying, and staying at, BCG.
Christina

A Personal Story

After almost six years with BCG my mind is still constantly challenged—in internal case team meetings, as well as in client discussions. However, being a vital part of designing new strategic visions and plans for some of the leading firms is a challenge I happily accept.

Although we leverage our vast industry and functional expertise, BCG believes in the uniqueness of each client and strives to deliver a tailor-made approach and solution. This requires creativity and strategic insight in our everyday client work, and is my reason for enjoying, and staying at, BCG.

Christina holds an MS in business administration from the Stockholm School of Economics and an MBA from Kenan Flagler Business School, North Carolina, United States. She joined BCG as a summer associate in 2002 and took a full-time position in 2003.

Developing our people is at the core of our long term success.

A Personal Story
To me, BCG is all about having major impact and creating value in an inspiring and dynamic environment. Given BCG’s expertise, practice areas, and global reach, we’re brought in by large organizations to assist on the issues that top the agenda of senior management. To succeed with this, we need to bring the best people to the table. From day one at BCG, there is a strong focus and commitment to formal training to prepare you for the rapidly increasing responsibilities you'll get at BCG. However, our tailored approach to solving our clients' challenges makes it impossible to learn everything you need from training, and our firm's high partner-to-consultant ratio creates a critical and real opportunity for continuous on-the-job training and coaching. Our senior consultants’ willingness to spend time on developing our people is really the core of our training curriculum—and at the heart of BCG's long term success.
Background
Krister holds an MS in business and administration from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration, a major in finance from HEC, France, and an MBA from INSEAD.

To understand and advise clients about value creation is a unique intellectual challenge.
Jess
Project Leader, Copenhagen
A Personal Story

When I decided to make the transition from banking to consulting, it was mainly because I wanted to learn more about where value comes from and not just how to measure it. To understand the real value drivers in any company or industry, and to further create value for our clients, is a truly unique intellectual challenge. It is inherently rewarding to advise our clients around the world on how to solve some of their toughest problems.

The shift from one type of client, topic, and industry to another enforces a very steep learning curve—it has provided me with in depth insights into how some of the largest companies perform and create value for their stakeholders. Furthermore, working with some of the best people from various backgrounds and countries creates a fantastic atmosphere, and you will quickly learn that such interaction can take your level of reasoning to new dimensions.

Background
Jess joined BCG in early 2006 and is a member of the Corporate Development practice area. His experience has included supporting financial institutions, private equity clients, and industrial and consumer goods clients. Jess earned a master’s and diploma in finance from CBS, combined with studies at LSE. Prior to joining BCG, Jess worked for the Danish Central Bank with capital markets.
Emma
At BCG I search for pragmatic solutions to complex problems. And best of all, I do this together with colleagues who love problem-solving as much as me!
Emma
Consultant, Helsinki
A Personal Story
When I was making the leap from computational biophysics to BCG, I wondered whether there would really be enough intellectual challenges to keep me fascinated. And would BCG share my passion for creative insights firmly anchored in rigorous analysis and structured thinking? I should not have worried. In addition to frequently facing complex, intriguing problems that require a strong and creative analytic mindset, I also have to apply my mind to finding pragmatic solutions to them—solutions we can actually implement with the client. Best of all, I can do all this together with like-minded colleagues, who love problem-solving as much as I do, and inspire me to develop and focus my thinking further. Honestly, I do not think my mind has ever enjoyed as many challenges, or as much fun and stimulus, as it does here at BCG.
Background
Emma holds MS and PhD degrees (both with distinction) in engineering physics from Helsinki University of Technology. After finalizing her PhD thesis “Multiscale modeling in biological and soft matter”, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Jonas
An atmosphere where great colleagues at all levels also become very good friends.
Jonas
Associate, Oslo
A Personal Story

“Welcome to BCG, it is great to have you on board! And by the way, do you play soccer?” Since that moment, the BCG Oslo soccer team has been an important part of my life here. When we put on our shirts and take to the pitch we are all equally important, whether we have worked here for ten days or ten years. This creates an atmosphere where great colleagues at all levels also become very good friends.

The memorable moments are many, but nothing compares to the ecstatic atmosphere in the office before the European Championship. I remember how the excitement and energy in the voices of my fellow BCGers when they told stories of former triumphs in the BCG Challenge Cup truly amazed me—I had to experience this for myself, and I was not at all disappointed. It was like everyone lived out a distant childhood dream of playing in the World Cup, and when we finally lifted the trophy in Zurich, it was not as consultants, but as soccer stars. These are moments which, from my point of view, complement the already unique working experience and make BCG Oslo a truly special place to work.

Background
Jonas holds an MS degree in economics and business administration, specializing in finance, from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH).
