Challenge Your Mind
Nicole
Now I have the freedom to manage my own time.
Nicole
Project Leader, Brussels
A Personal Story
My interests span many industries, so I joined BCG hoping I would be able to work in areas that intrigued me. When I wanted to work on an energy case, I did. When I sought to move from consumer back into financial institutions, it happened. And BCG has met my needs in different ways. I took a leave of absence to spend more time with my baby and was able to work 50 percent for close to a year. I am now settled in an 80 percent role, so I’m much more able to manage my work life balance.
Background

Nicole has a PhD in international business strategy, a Master’s in international finance and banking from the Fletcher School, and Master’s degrees in social sciences from IEP Paris and political science and economics from the Freie Universtät in Berlin. She joined BCG Brussels in 2005.

Being the mother of three beautiful kids, I also need some flexibility in my work.

A Personal Story

For me, the people are the single most important reason to work at BCG. Each day, I get the opportunity to meet and work with great people—both clients and colleagues—who are inspiring and challenging. And after more than ten years with BCG, I still learn something new every day. I learn about industries, companies, organizations, and how they work. And last, but not least, I learn about people—including myself. Continuous learning is something I cited as a key objective in my application letter to BCG, a long time ago. And it remains a critical—and consistently fulfilled—goal for me today.

Being the mother of three beautiful kids—two daughters and one son—I also need some flexibility in my work, something that the project-based environment at BCG is actually very suitable for. I currently work part time 60%, which allows me a good balance between my job and family life.

Background
Caroline holds a Master of Science from Stockholm School of Economics; she has also studied finance at Columbia University, New York. Caroline joined BCG in 1995. During 1999-2002 she held positions outside BCG. She is now Principal at the Stockholm office.
Markku
BCG has helped me create my own career path.
Markku
Project Leader, Helsinki
A Personal Story
After six years at BCG I felt it was the right time to do something different for a while. My second son had just been born, and I wanted to make sure that I could devote enough time to my family. I found BCG to be very supportive of my wishes, and while I had enjoyed consulting immensely, I welcomed the opportunity to take a different role temporarily. My new position as HR Country Manager has allowed me to learn new things and see consulting from a different perspective.
Background
Markku holds an MS in industrial engineering and management from the Helsinki University of Technology. He joined BCG Helsinki in 2002, and has since then worked mostly with technology and industrial goods clients. He is a core member of BCG’s Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice area.
